20 Then Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife and say,[a] “May the Lord give[b] you descendants[c] from this woman in place of the one she dedicated[d] to the Lord.” Then they would return to their[e] home.[f]

21 The Lord took note of Hannah,[g] and she became pregnant and gave birth to[h] three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel continued to grow,[i] and the Lord was constantly[j] with him.

22 Now Eli was very[k] old, and he had heard everything that[l] his sons were doing[m] to the Israelis,[n] and how they lay with the women who were serving regularly[o] at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
